Updated over 7 months ago

If you don't already have a logbook, or need to complete a new logbook, you can use the TaxTank logbook to automate the percentage of claim across all of your vehicle expenses, including deprecation and interest on loans.

Step 1 - Choose the 'Logbook' Method

  1. From the logbook tab select 'Logbook Results'

  2. Select the 'Update' button

Step 2 - Set a temporary Percentage of Claim

Adjust the slider to select an estimated percentage of claim which will be updated when your logbook is completed

  • Step 1 - Adjust the slider to set your claim from 0% to 100%

  • Step 2 - Select the 'Update' button to confirm

Step 3 - Complete the Logbook

Select the 'Add New Trip' button to get started.

Then it's just a matter of completing the fields.

  1. Description - Where you went or who you saw (or whatever makes sense for you)

  2. Purpose - Select 'Business' or 'Personal' from the dropdown

  3. Date - Date of the travel

  4. Starting Kms - For the first trip you will need to enter the Starting Kms, which will be your vehicle odometer reading when the logbook started.

  5. Ending Kms - The odometer reading at the end of each trip

When your logbook is ready, untick the 'I want to set the value manually' box and we will automatically calculate and apply the best claim percentage from the recorded trips in a consecutive 12 week period.

We will also update the claim percentage of any vehicle expenses already allocated in the current financial year to ensure you claim everything you're entitled to ;)
