Updated over 2 weeks ago

Managing transactions is easier when everyone is on the same page. Discussion Notes let you and your accountant (or collaborators) leave questions, comments, and clarifications directly on a bank transaction - no more back-and-forth emails.

What you can do with discussion notes

  • Ask Questions – Unsure what a transaction is for? Leave a quick note.

  • Give Answers – Reply with details so your accountant or client knows exactly how to handle it.

  • Collaborate in Context – Notes stay attached to the transaction, so all history is in one place.

How to add a discussion note

  1. Open your Bank Feeds.

  2. Find the transaction you want to comment on.

  3. Click the speech bubble icon to open the Discussion Notes window.

  4. Enter your comment in the New Note box.

  5. Click Save.

Your note will now appear in the discussion thread for that transaction.

How will you know when you have a message or reply?

  • If there’s a new comment or reply, you’ll see a blue circle with a number on the icon.

  • The number shows how many unread notes are waiting for you.

  • Simply click the icon to open the conversation and respond.

What happens once the transaction is allocated?

Once a transaction is allocated, its notes will no longer appear in the Account Transaction tab. If you need to view or update the notes, click Redo All to move the transaction back into the Reconcile tab.

FAQs

Q: Can I delete my note if I made a mistake?
A: Yes. You can delete any note you’ve written. However, you won’t be able to delete notes left by your accountant or client.

Q: Can I keep important notes or comments visible after allocation?
A: Not yet. Discussion Notes are designed for back-and-forth while a transaction is waiting to be allocated. We have a feature planned that will let you add comments or notes to transactions so they stay visible even after allocation.
