Sometimes client ownership needs to change - for example, if an accountant leaves the firm or if you want to reassign a client to someone else. TaxTank makes it simple for managers to transfer clients between accountants.

Who Can Transfer Clients

Only accountants with Manager permissions can reassign clients. Accountants with Employee access cannot transfer clients or assign multiple accountants to a client.

Steps to Transfer a Client

  1. Go to the Clients tab in your Firm Dashboard.

  2. Locate the client you want to transfer.

  3. Click the transfer icon next to the client’s name.

  4. Select the new accountant from the dropdown list.

  5. Click Transfer to confirm the reassignment.

💡Things to Keep in Mind

  • The client’s records, documents, and tanks will automatically move to the new accountant.

  • Only one accountant can be assigned to a client at a time if they have Employee permissions. If multiple accountants need access, those team members must have Manager permissions.

  • Transfers can be made at any time, so you can keep client allocations up to date if team members leave or roles change.
