In TaxTank, a sole trader business can only be deleted if it contains no data. This protects your records and ensures past financial information isnโt removed accidentally.
If your business has transactions or depreciation data, it must be closed instead of deleted.
When can a business be deleted?
You can delete a sole trader business only when:
โ
There are no transactions linked to it
โ
There are no depreciation schedules attached
โ
There is no data in any financial year
If any data exists, the delete option will not be available.
Step 1: Remove all business data
Before deleting the business, make sure the following are cleared from all relevant financial years:
Business income and expense transactions
Any uploaded or linked depreciation schedules
Allocations connected to the business
Historical data in prior financial years
Tip: Use the financial year selector at the top of the screen to check each year.
Step 2: Delete the business
Once the business has no data:
Go to the Business tab in the left menu
Select the business you want to remove
Click the red Delete Business button
Confirm when prompted
The business will then be permanently removed from your account.
