TaxTank has received reports of phone calls where callers are falsely claiming to represent TaxTank or are claiming to be from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) while referring to TaxTank and cryptocurrency.
These calls are not from TaxTank.
What has been reported?
We have received reports of several versions of the calls, including callers:
claiming to be from the “TaxTank Team”
claiming to be conducting a survey on behalf of TaxTank
claiming to be from the AFP
saying a cryptocurrency or digital currency account has been compromised
referring to TaxTank while discussing cryptocurrency or an alleged AFP investigation
The callers are also providing incorrect information about TaxTank.

Please be aware that scammers can spoof Australian phone numbers, so these may not be the actual numbers the calls originated from.
Has TaxTank been hacked?
Our team has reviewed our systems and has found no evidence of unauthorised access or compromise of TaxTank.
We take the security and privacy of our customers seriously and are continuing to monitor our systems and investigate these reports as a precaution.
What should I do if I receive a call?
TaxTank will never call you by phone. We do not conduct customer surveys or make unsolicited calls to our customers. We also do not require users to provide a phone number when creating or using a TaxTank account.
If you receive an unexpected phone call claiming to be from TaxTank, or someone claiming to be from the AFP who mentions TaxTank or cryptocurrency:
Hang up and do not follow their instructions.
Do not provide passwords, verification codes, banking details or other personal information.
Do not provide remote access to your computer or mobile device.
Do not transfer money or cryptocurrency.
Contact TaxTank through our official support channels if you want to verify whether a communication came from us.
We have reported the scam activity to Scamwatch and will update this notice if we receive further information.
