From this information we will calculate your capital gain/(loss) and net capital gain/(loss) and display the sale on the sold tab.

What if I make a mistake?

If you make a mistake go to the sold tab and find the right sale, you then have two options. You can select the pencil icon on the right hand side to edit any details, or alternatively you can select the 'Redo' button which will remove the sale completely so it can be done again.

What's the difference between capital gain/(loss) and net capital gain/(loss)?

Great question, the 'Capital Gain/(Loss)' amount is the gross capital gain/loss excluding any losses or discounts.

The 'Net Capital Gain/(Loss)' amount is the adjusted capital gain/loss including any discounts (ie. the 50% CGT discount if held for more than 12 months) but excluding any losses.

Where can I see my net capital gain/(loss) amount including losses, discounts and concessions?

From a tax perspective, losses must be applied before any discounts. So to see your total CGT position including applied losses, concessions and discounts select the 'Open CGT Report' button. This report will provide a live net capital gain or loss amount for all assets held in your individual name as reported in your tax summary.
