How to add shares and crypto trades

Learn to add shares and crypto trades seamlessly in TaxTank to track and ensure accurate portfolio management reporting.

Updated over a week ago

In Holdings Tank you can add any stocks, shares, ETF's, Cryptocurrencies or other assets that you own quickly and easily from any tab. Both shares and cryptos are added the same way.

Simply select the 'Buy' button to open the pop-up, and then choose the relevant asset type (Share, Crypto or Other) from the top menu.

Then choose how you own the asset. By default we will select 'Held in my name' which means you own the asset in your name, however select 'Held in other' for any assets bought in a trust, company or SMSF. These trades will be excluded from your Tax Summary.

For listed shares and cryptos start typing to select the ticker from the dropdown. For shares we will show the company name and exchange to ensure the right one is selected. For crypto we will show the coin name.

Then simply enter the BUY price in Australian dollars (AUD), the number of units bought and still held, any fees (also in AUD) and the date you bought them. Attach the statement for safe keeping, select the 'Buy' button, and wallah you're done!

I made a mistake, how do I edit?

If you make a mistake you can delete or edit any of the information quickly and easily. Just scroll or search to find the ticker you need to fix, and then select the blue triangle to see all BUY for this ticker. Simply find the BUY you with the error, and from the right hand side select the 3 dots, and then either 'Delete' to remove the trader or 'Edit' which will open a popup.

Make any changes you need to make to any of the fields in the pop-up, or attach a new document, and then select the 'Save' button.
