How to create custom personal categories

Custom personal categories allow you to track personal income and expenses without affecting your tax summary. You can create them from the Dashboard or while allocating transactions in Bank feeds.

Creating Custom Personal Categories from the Dashboard

  1. In the Budgeting widget on your Dashboard, click the Edit icon.

  2. Click Manage Custom.

  3. Enter a name for your category.

  4. Choose whether it is an Income or Expense category.

  5. Click Save.

Your new category will now appear in the list on the left.

Editing or Deleting Categories

  • To edit: Select the category, make your changes in the pop-up, and click Save.

  • To delete: Click the Bin icon.

  • You can create as many personal categories as you like, but note that editing or deleting is only possible before allocating any transactions.

Allocating Transactions to Custom Personal Categories in Bank Feeds

  1. Go to Bank feeds and select the bank and transaction.

  2. Click the Personal icon.

  3. While allocating a transaction, click Manage Custom to add, edit, or delete categories in the pop-up window.

  4. Choose the appropriate category.

  5. Click Allocate.

Once transactions are allocated, you can only edit the category name or type, not the allocation itself.

Tracking Your Personal Categories

  • You can manage and monitor your budgeting for these categories on the Dashboard to stay on top of your financial goals.
