When TaxTank syncs with Sharesight, it imports your entire trade history to ensure your Capital Gains Tax (CGT) calculations and current balances stay spot-on.
Sometimes, a security code (Ticker) from Sharesight doesn’t match anything in TaxTank’s master list. When that happens:
We import everything we can so your portfolio remains as complete as possible.
You’ll see an in-app notification listing any unmatched Tickers that need your attention.
1. Check the Ticker in Sharesight
Open your Sharesight portfolio and confirm which of the following applies to the unmatched ticker:
Position closed to zero – You’ve sold all your shares.
Company delisted – The company is no longer trading on the exchange.
Ticker changed – The company is still active, but the Ticker has been updated.
If the position is closed or the company is delisted, you don’t need to take further action—these tickers won’t affect your current balances in TaxTank.
Need to calculate CGT for a past year?
You can manually add the delisted asset as a Custom Ticker in TaxTank to ensure accurate reporting.
2. Update a Changed Ticker
If the company is still active but using a new Ticker:
Edit the holding in Sharesight and update it with the correct Ticker code.
Once updated, TaxTank will automatically sync the trades overnight, and the unmatched Ticker alert will disappear.
3. Still unmatched? Send us a chat message
If the Ticker is valid and you still hold the shares but it’s still not matching:
Send us a message via our in-app chat.
Include the exact Ticker and exchange (e.g.,
ASX:XYZ
).
We’ll double-check it for you and, if needed, add it to our supported list so it syncs smoothly in the future.
