We’re aware that some ING customers are seeing duplicate transactions in TaxTank.
What is causing the duplicates?
The original issue was that ING supplied some transactions without descriptions. ING has advised that this issue has been fixed. However, the same transaction may now appear twice:
One transaction without a description
One transaction with the description included
Each version is supplied with a different transaction ID. This means Basiq receives them as two separate transactions and cannot automatically identify or remove the duplicate.
Is the issue being fixed?
Basiq has raised the issue with ING. ING is currently waiting for a response from the Data Standards Body regarding the original incident, and that outcome will determine how the duplicate transactions are handled.
Basiq cannot progress the matter further until ING receives this response.
What should I do with the duplicates?
While the issue is being resolved, we recommend creating a custom category called ING Delete and allocating the duplicate transactions to it.
This will:
Clear the duplicates from your unallocated transactions
Allow you to continue keeping your other transactions up to date
Keep all affected transactions grouped together so they can be easily identified once a resolution is available
Can I contact ING directly?
Yes. As ING is the data holder supplying the transactions, we recommend affected customers contact ING’s CDR team at cdrenquiry@ing.com.au.
You may wish to explain that duplicate transactions are affecting your ability to manage your personal finances accurately and ask for the issue to be resolved as soon as possible.
Do I need to disconnect my bank feed?
No. Please do not disconnect and reconnect your ING bank feed, as this will not resolve the underlying issue.
We understand how frustrating this is. The issue originates with the transaction data supplied by ING and is outside TaxTank’s direct control. We’ll continue following up with Basiq and provide an update as soon as more information is available.
