Learn how to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in TaxTank to protect your account with an extra layer of security.

Updated over a week ago

TaxTank includes Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to add an extra layer of protection to your account. We use Google Authenticator along with a backup email option so you can always access your account, even if your phone isn't handy.

How to Set It Up

To get started, click on your name in the top right corner and select "My Account", then navigate to the "Security" tab.

Step 1 – Set Up Google Authenticator

  1. Click the "Use Multi-Factor Authentication" button.

  2. Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone.

  3. Scan the QR code displayed, or if you can’t scan it, click "Can’t scan the QR-code?" to reveal a setup key you can enter manually.

  4. Once added, the app will generate a 6-digit code. Simply enter that code into the field in TaxTank and confirm.

Step 2 – Add a Backup Email

  1. Enter a backup email address (make sure it’s different from your TaxTank login email).

  2. Click the "Get Code" button.

  3. Check your backup email inbox for a verification code and enter it in the field provided.

You're all set up

Next time you log in, you’ll be asked to enter a code from your Google Authenticator app.

Lost your phone?
No stress, just click "Use Backup Email" on the login screen and we'll send a verification code to your registered backup email instead.
