Here's a step-by-step guide to managing your TaxTank account, including options for cancelling subscriptions, letting accounts go inactive, and permanently closing your account.
Cancelling an Active Subscription
If you have an active subscription, you can cancel it at any time from the My Account page.
Your account will become inactive once the subscription period ends.
Bank feeds will be disconnected, and no new transaction data will be received.
You can reconnect your bank feeds at any time in the future if needed.
Please note that paid subscriptions are non-refundable, and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Letting Your Account Go Inactive
If you’re in a trial period, your account will automatically become inactive after the 14-day trial ends.
Inactive accounts are archived, so you can return anytime by reactivating your subscription.
Bank accounts linked during the trial will be disconnected, and no further data will be collected.
To stop the collection of historical data, you can revoke consent (see details below).
Revoking Consent for Bank Feeds
You can revoke consent for bank feeds to stop live updates and delete all historical bank feed data. This action cannot be undone.
Navigate to Bank Feeds.
Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
Select Revoke Access from the dropdown menu.
Confirm by selecting Yes in the pop-up.
After revoking:
Your bank or financial institution may send you an email confirmation.
To remove access after your trial has ended or in response to a Consumer Data Right (CDR) reminder, log in to your internet banking and remove the connection from your bank’s settings.
Closing Your Account Permanently
If you wish to close your account and delete your data permanently:
Go to My Account > Security Tab.
Select the Close Account button.
Confirm your decision by clicking Confirm.
Important:
Closing your account will permanently revoke access, disconnect all linked banks, and delete all transaction data.
You can not reactivate nor use the same email address again in TaxTank.
This action cannot be undone.
FAQs
Q: I accidentally created a Family Advisor, Accounting Firm or Advisor account. Can I close it?
A: Yes. If you've accidentally created a Family Advisor, Accounting Firm or Advisor account when you meant to create an Individual User account, our team can submit a request to close the account for you.
Please note that account closure requests can take several weeks to be processed, particularly during busy periods such as tax time.
If you're using Gmail, the fastest option is often to create a new Individual User account using the Gmail +1 method (for example, yourname+1@gmail.com). This method allows you to receive emails to your original email. Once the Individual account has been created, our team can arrange to swap the email addresses over.
Q: What happens if I no longer want to use a Family Advisor, Accounting Firm or Advisor account?
A: You can simply stop using the account at any time.
If you would like the account permanently removed from our system, please contact support and we can submit an account closure request on your behalf. Please note that closure requests are not immediate and may take several weeks to be completed.
