If you have business, trust, SMSF or personal accounts with the same bank, you can connect them all in TaxTank using Open Banking.
Some banks separate these accounts into different profiles, user IDs, or entities. This article shows you how to connect them together and manage multiple profiles in one place.
Step 1: Connect your first bank profile
To get started:
Go to Bank Feeds
Click Add Bank
Select your bank
Complete the Open Banking connection steps through your bank
If you are presented with multiple profiles, like CBA shown below, select one profile to continue first.
Some banks keep personal, business, trust, SMSF and company accounts under separate profiles or logins. This is common with banks such as CBA and ANZ, but it can also apply to other institutions. You can come back in Step 3 to add any additional profiles.
Once you return to TaxTank, your first bank tile will appear.
Step 2: Add your bank accounts
After connecting, you’ll need to bring the accounts into TaxTank.
Click the three dots on the bank tile
Select Add Bank Accounts
Tick the accounts you want to import
Assign each account to the correct Tank
Click Save
Your transactions will then begin importing.
Step 3: Connect additional profiles, entities or user IDs
If you need to connect another profile:
Go to Bank Feeds
Click the three dots on your existing bank tile
Select Connect additional profile
Log in using the additional User ID, entity login, or select the other profile
Complete the bank authorisation steps
Repeat this process for any additional profiles
Each profile will appear as its own bank tile in TaxTank.
This allows you to manage personal and business-related accounts separately while keeping everything in one login.
Step 4: Add accounts from the additional profile
Once the additional profile is connected and you return back to TaxTank:
Click the three dots on that bank tile
Select Add Bank Accounts
Choose the accounts you want active
Assign them to the correct Tank and entity
Save
Step 5: Rename your bank tiles
If you have multiple profiles with the same bank, it’s a good idea to rename each tile so it’s easy to identify.
To rename:
Click the three dots on the bank tile
Select Edit Profile Name
Enter a clear name
For example:
Personal
Sole Trader
Family Trust
SMSF
Company Name
This makes it much easier to manage multiple connections.
Common examples
Personal and sole trader accounts with the same bank
If your personal and business accounts sit under separate profiles, connect the first profile, then use Connect additional profile to add the second one.
Multiple trust or company entities
If you have multiple trust, company, or SMSF logins with the same bank, connect each one separately using Connect additional profile.
Different user IDs
If your bank uses separate user IDs for each entity, each one will need to be connected individually.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I connect personal and trust accounts together?
A: Yes! With TaxTank’s dual ID/Profile function, you can create multiple profiles. Once your bank authorises access, you can have personal, business, trust, and SMSF accounts all visible in the same place.
Q: I have to choose between my business and personal profiles. Why can’t I select both?
A: Some banks’ Open Banking systems only allow one profile to be selected at a time. In TaxTank, you can create an additional profile so both personal and business profiles can be live simultaneously.
Q: My account isn’t appearing when I try to connect it. What should I do?
A: Non-personal accounts often require extra steps, like completing an Open Banking authority form, updating business data sharing settings, or granting the correct individual authority. Check with your bank to confirm what’s needed, then follow the instructions before trying to connect in TaxTank again.
Q: Do I need to reconnect my bank to add new accounts?
A: Yes. If your bank is already connected, you’ll need to disconnect and reconnect to add new Business, Trust, or SMSF accounts. Once reconnected, you can select the new accounts to add to your profile. If you haven’t added your bank yet, just click Add Bank and follow the prompts.
