Banks that require additional authority for Open Banking

Learn how to connect bank accounts requiring extra authority for Open Banking, including trust, business, and joint accounts, with step-by-step guidance.

Updated today

Some banks require extra steps before you can connect your accounts via Open Banking. This usually applies to joint accounts, trust accounts, business entities, or SMSFs.

If your account isn’t appearing, it’s usually because the bank requires additional approval before allowing data sharing.

Before You Start

In most cases, you’ll need to complete one or more of the following with your bank:

  • Enable data sharing permissions

  • Assign a delegate or authorised user

  • Complete an authority form

  • Ensure all account holders approve access (for joint accounts)

Once this is done, you’ll then need to reconnect your bank in TaxTank.

After Authority Is Granted

Once approval has been completed with your bank, follow the steps below.

If you’ve already connected this bank

You’ll need to disconnect and reconnect to refresh the connection and bring in all available accounts.

Steps:

  1. Go to Bank Feeds

  2. Find your bank

  3. Click the three dots

  4. Select Disconnect

  5. Click Add Bank and reconnect

This will bring through all accounts, including any newly approved trust, business, or joint accounts.

If you haven’t connected this bank yet

  1. Go to Bank Feeds

  2. Click Add Bank

  3. Follow the prompts

Tip: If your accounts sit under different logins (for example personal vs trust), use Connect Additional Profile after connecting.
