How to add Trust or Business Accounts from CBA

Learn how to connect your CBA Trust or Business account to TaxTank, including how to update your data sharing authority.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you're trying to connect a Trust or Business account from CBA (Commonwealth Bank) to TaxTank and the account isn’t showing, you may need to update your data sharing permissions via CBA’s Open Banking portal.

Why can’t I see my CBA Trust or Business account?

CBA requires the account holder to actively authorise data sharing for each account, including Trust and Business accounts. This step needs to be completed through the bank’s online data sharing portal to allow third-party access.

How to add your CBA Trust or Business account to TaxTank

  1. Update your data sharing authority
    Follow the instructions on how to update your data sharing authority on the CBA website.

    For Netbank users;

    • Log onto NetBank and go to Settings, Manage data sharing, then Setting up data sharing delegates.

    • Choose the business profile you'd like to assign a delegate to.

    • Tap on Add delegate to choose a director or business authority (e.g. chairperson, trustee, secretary, proprietor). Or download the form to choose anyone else (e.g. employee, accountant).

    For CommBiz users;

    • Log onto CommBiz and go to Admin, Maintenance requests then Add data sharing delegate.

    • After you choose a business to share data for, select a delegate. You can select up to 5 delegates per business.

    • Download, print and sign each pre-filled form, which can be sent via email or post.

  2. Wait for the sharing to take effect
    In some cases, it can take a day or two for CBA to update the sharing settings across their systems.

  3. Add the account in TaxTank
    Once sharing is active, go to your Bank Feeds in TaxTank, select Add Account, and choose CBA. Your Trust or Business account should now be available to connect.

Having issues?
CBA is currently experiencing some known issues with Open Banking connections. If your accounts still aren’t showing after updating the data sharing, you may need to contact CBA directly or let us know so we can raise a ticket with our provider, Basiq.
