How to fix cache issues while using Firefox

Learn how to fix cache issues in Firefox so TaxTank runs smoothly. Clear your cache manually and set it to clear automatically on close.

If TaxTank isn’t loading correctly or seems stuck, clearing your browser’s cache in Firefox can help. Follow the steps below to manually clear the cache and to set Firefox to do it automatically every time you close it.

Step 1: Manually clear the cache

Option 1: Through Firefox Settings

  1. Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner of Firefox and select Settings.

  2. In the left menu, select Privacy & Security.

  3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data…

  4. In the dialog that appears:

    • Next to When: choose Everything from the dropdown.

    • Tick only Temporary cached files and pages (leave other options unticked if you want to keep them).

  5. Click Clear.

  6. Close the Settings tab — your changes are saved automatically.

Option 2: Through History

  1. Click the menu button and select HistoryClear Recent History…

  2. Next to When: choose Everything from the dropdown.

  3. Tick only Temporary cached files and pages (untick anything else you want to keep).

  4. Click Clear.

Recommended: Automatically clear the cache when Firefox closes

If you’d like Firefox to clear the cache every time you close it:

  1. Click the menu button and select Settings.

  2. Go to Privacy & SecurityHistory.

  3. In the dropdown next to Firefox will, select Use custom settings for history.

  4. Tick Clear history when Firefox closes.

  5. Click Settings… next to it.

  6. Tick only Temporary cached files and pages (leave other options unticked if you want to keep them).

  7. Click Save Changes.

  8. Close the Settings tab — your changes are saved automatically.
